COLOMBO, SRI LANKA, November 2, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ — Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) today urged Sri Lankan Government’s Cabinet spokesman, Dr. Rajitha Senaratne to release the name of the Brigadier who leads the notorious armed group called ‘Aava’ that is terrorizing Tamils and acting as a branch of the Sri Lankan Security forces. Addressing the weekly Cabinet news briefing on November 2nd in Colombo, the Cabinet spokesman said the following: “Minister Senaratne dismissed the suggestion that this underworld group was a creation of the Tamil Diaspora and said ‘Aava’ was active in the North during the war and the armed forces were aware of that and added he could even reveal the name of the Brigadier who acted as the God Father of the ‘Ava group’ during the war.” See more at: http://www.dailymirror.lk/article/-Aava-a-Gota-creation-Rajitha-118572.html#sthash.mf2jy4sD.dpuf It is imperative that Cabinet spokesman reveal the name of this Brigadier and other military officers who are involved in using these types of armed groups to kill, rape and abduct Tamil civilians said TGTE. “These armed groups are acting as a branch of the security forces.” Thousands of Tamils disappeared during the war and the Sri Lankan security forces created these types of armed groups to help them abuse the Tamils. Armed groups of this type are active even after the war ended over six years ago. These groups operate with the active support of the Sri Lankan security forces, which are stationed in very large numbers in Tamil areas even after the war ended. These armed groups are terrorizing the Tamil population and civilians are nervous to move around freely. Recently, two Jaffna University Tamil students were killed by the police at a check point. Initially, police said it was a road accident, but when protests erupted and after the medical examination, it was revealed that one student was shot by the Police and the other beaten to death. According to UN internal review report on Sri Lanka, over 70,000 Tamils were killed in five months in early 2009 and Tamil women were raped by the Sri Lankan Security forces. There are over 90,000 Tamil war widows and thousands of Tamils disappeared due the conflict. According to this UN report, the killings and other abuses that took place amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity.
