Sri Lanka: Visiting Prince Edward urged to meet Families of the Disappeared & Political Prisoners: Tamil Lawyers Forum

Tamil Lawyers Forum, which represents political prisoners and families of Enforced Disappearances, today urged His Royal Highness Prince Edward to meet families of enforced disappearances and families of political prisoners.

Prince Edward is visiting Sri Lanka to be the Chief Guest of Sri Lanka’s Independence Day celebrations on February 4th, representing Her Majesty The Queen.

In a letter written to the British High commissioner His Excellency James Dauris, Tamil Lawyers Forum urged him to facilitate a meeting with Prince Edward with families of Political Prisoners and families of the Enforced Disappeared to place their grievances and difficulties that they are presently subjected to in Sri Lanka.

The letter continued “These families were extremely grateful to Prime Minister David Cameron when he visited Refugee camps in the North and had spoken to some inmates of such camps when he visited Sri Lanka to attend the Commonwealth Conference held in Colombo in 2013.”
